Dennis Miller Debuts on Real Talk AM 1250

Dennis Miller Starts Monday, January 3, 2011 3-6pm on Lexington's Real Talk AM 1250 WLRT

It's been said that Miller is "One of the premiere comedy talents in America today..." While others are blunt assessing Miller's comedic stature, Dennis himself makes a virtue of understatement, but there is nothing low key about his career.

Miller is a five-time Emmy award winner for his critically acclaimed half-hour, live talk show "Dennis Miller Live" which had a nine year run on HBO. He also wrote and starred in the Emmy-nominated cable comedy special "Raw Feed", his sixth such special. He was the host and executive producer of CNBC's "Dennis Miller", a topical interview talk show featuring reasoned discourse, opinion and humor. Additionally, Miller has appeared on many politically oriented television talk shows.

He has also been cast in films, usually in dramatic roles, most notably in 1994's "Disclosure," 1995's "The Net," and 1996's "Murder at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue." In October 2001, HarperCollins published the fourth edition of Miller's popular rants, "The Rant Zone," now out in paperback. Miller's previous books, "I Rant Therefore I Am;" "Ranting Again" and "The Rants" have all been New York Times best sellers. For two seasons, Miller called the plays alongside Al Michaels and NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Fouts on ABC's "Monday Night Football." He was also the "Weekend Update" correspondent on "Saturday Night Live" for six years, before exiting in 1991. He has yet to appear in a show with the words, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday in the title.

Over the years, Miller has become both a public and critical favorite. The New York Times said, "Mr. Miller is exquisitely attuned to contemporary foibles...his material can be scathing, his delivery low key...Mr. Miller reaches a bit farther than most comedians for the scorching comment... this smart aleck has an uncommonly sharp eye..." and The Hollywood Reporter called his most recent special, "an hour of topical, scathing brilliance that helps cement Miller's status as the Lenny Bruce of the new millennium...the most cerebral, astute and clever standup ever to put mouth to microphone."

NQC in the Rear View Mirror

Well, another National Quartet Convention is in the books. I really enjoy getting to hang out and catch up with folks (some of whom I only get to see once a year). I don't so much care for the 750 miles I log driving to/from Louisville every day, and my feet really hurt by the end of the week. But in the end I always remember the fun and forget the bad, that is once I'm reseted up, which usually takes a week or so.

WLRT 1250 AM adds Talk Radio Network’s Michael Savage to weekday lineup.

Lexington, KY, April 14, 2010--WLRT 1250 AM has added The Michael Savage Show to its weekday lineup. The program will launch Monday, April 19 and air from noon to 3pm.

The Michael Savage Show is a powerhouse in national syndication. An independent-minded individualist, Michael Savage fits no stereotype. Empty Bowls Project Lunch

We had a really good time today at the Empty Bowls Project lunch at First Baptist Church in Richmond, KY. The food was fantastic, and the music by the students at EKU was excellent. The only problem I had was choosing which bowl I wanted. There were lots to choose from, and they were all made by local artists.

The Empty Bowls Project benefits the food pantry in Madison County.

Updates and Such

Wow, it's been a while since I last posted. Sorry about that. Life got busy and the blog got pushed to the very, very back burner. Time to move forward.

Schedule Changes
You probably noticed we've moved adjusted WJMM's M-F schedule. Here's the scoop:

American Advisor was added to our schedule at 12:30 pm M-F on WJMM
Truths that Transform moved from 12:30 pm M-F on WJMM to 6:30 pm
Truth for Life was removed from our evening schedule on WJMM

The switch came with very short notice, so we didn't have time to promote it in advance. Sorry about any confusion.

Our friends from Jack Kain Ford can now be heard live from 2:30 - 3:30 pm on WJMM on Fridays. The repeat airs

Weekends are changing a bit too. Starting 2/27 Contagious! will air at 7 am Sunday on WJMM. Focus with John Wells moves to 7:15 am.

Last item I can think of is our annual radiothon. As you are no doubt aware, we host a radiothon every spring to benefit a local charity. Once again we have partnered with God's Pantry. The radiiothon will be May 6 and 7. Stay tuned for more details and how you can help this much needed ministry.

7.0 Earthquake Devastates the Caribbean nation of Haiti

"Worse than a war zone—Crippling--Devastating."

 

These are some of the words used to describe the 7.0 earthquake that struck the Caribbean nation of Haiti on Tuesday January 12—killing thousands and leaving millions without power or water. Witnesses have reported severe damage to buildings and many people injured.

 

International Red Cross spokesman Paul Conneally said an estimated 3 million people may have been affected by the quake and that it would take a day or two for a clear picture of the damage to emerge.

 

Several organizations such as Convoy of Hope, Samaritan’s Purse and the American Red Cross are leading the way in disaster relief efforts to Haiti.

Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me."

Melanie Morgan to Exit America's Morning News

Co-Host and anchor Melanie Morgan of TRN's America's Morning News with the Washington Times has announced she is leaving the nationally-syndicated morning show citing undisclosed health reasons.

 

Morgan states, "I wish all my friends at The Washington Times much luck in 2010," said Melanie," of course all the fabulous folks at Talk Radio Network who were so kind as to invite me along on this chat-fest.."

 

"We wish Melanie nothing but the best,  and a safe and happy return to good health soon,"  said TRN President of Programming Phil Boyce.

 

TRN and the Washington Times will make an announcement shortly on Melanie's replacement.  In the meantime,  the show will continue to be hosted by John McCaslin, with several guest hosts that will be stepping in.
