Lexington Rescue Mission 2015 Banquet and Silent Auction

Some of the best parts of my job are working with great organizations like Lexington Rescue Mission, and meeting the people who support them and benefit from their work.

This year's banquet featured some truly inspiring stories. It's easy to get caught up in the bad news that seems to surround us on a daily basis. Events and speakers like these are great reminders that good is still alive and well in this world. God is changing lives, healing relationships, and rebuilding people every day right here in Central Kentucky. An evening hearing about that is good for the soul.

We met some very cool people like "Porkchop" and "Crazy Lola," and got to see some old friends we see far too infrequently.

If you didn't attend this year, you really missed out. We're already looking forward to next year!

Thank you so much to Ed Gabe, who volunteered as our photographer for the event! Great work!

Backpacks & School Supplies for Appalachia

The start of a new school year is just around the corner for kids everywhere!

Wouldn't it be GREAT if every child--in even the poorest
areas--started this new school year with a brand new backpack and the
school supplies they need?

This year--more than ever-- Mission of Hope needs YOUR help to
provide these much-needed items to some 11,500 needy and deserving
students so they can have a good start to their school year.

Each year, the principals and faculty of the schools in the rural
Appalachian communities Mission of Hope serves share what an
encouragement and esteem-builder these items are to the children who
receive them.

How You Can Help

Your generous donation of $10 will provide a new backpack filled with
supplies to a very deserving and grateful student!

To sponsor one or more children, call Mission of Hope at 877-627-1909,
or donate online here.

Thanks for helping extend the HOPE!
